GOVERNOR HOGAN'S VETOES: 

Thank you for overriding the veto on:

HB 1095/SB 669 - Funding for the Prescription Drug Affordability Board:

• Provides a permanent funding source for the new Prescription Drug Affordability Board
• Reviews medication prices--including brand name and specialty drugs-- to make them more affordable. 

SB 708 - Funding for the Maryland Violence Intervention and Prevention Program, including Baltimore City’s Safe Streets Initiative:

• Provides funding to Safe Streets and other organizations so they can stop shootings in Baltimore using public health driven, "evidence-based," violence interruption and prevention.

HB4/SB 208 - Background Checks for Rifles and Shotguns

• Requires gun merchants to register the ownership of any rifles or shotguns they sell. 

HB 1300 - Funding for the Kirwan Commission Educational Reforms:

• Addresses EACH student’s needs so they have equal opportunities for learning meeting their full potential.

SB 684 - Establishment of a Pre-Release Unit for Incarcerated Women:

• Creates a Rehabilitative Pre-Release Unit for women to support them in their transition out of the prison system.
